Introduction

The purpose of this TASK is to give details for the test and control of the solutions which can be used on titanium parts to prepare them for inspection.

    1. Analysis control is unnecessary; discard the solution when it no longer produces a satisfactory etch.

    3. SUBTASK 70-11-08-200-003 The Test and Control of Nitric Acid/Hydrofluorosilicic Acid Solution

    4. SUBTASK 70-11-08-200-004 The Test and Control of Nitric Acid/Potassium Fluoride Solution

    1. This subtask is deleted.

    5. SUBTASK 70-11-08-200-005 The Test and Control of Hydrofluoric Acid/Nitric Acid Desmutting Solution

    1. Analysis control is unnecessary, discard the solution when it no longer removes smut.

    6. SUBTASK 70-11-08-200-006 The Test and Control of Titanium Etch Neutralizing Solution

      1. Do one of the procedures in the subsequent list to do the maintenance of the swab etch solution:

        1. Procedure 1.

        1. Do a check of the solution pH before you use the solution. If the solution pH is less than 8.5, discard the solution.

        2. Procedure 2.

        1. Make and use a new solution each work shift or day you do SPM TASK 70-11-08-300-503 and discard the solution at the end of the work shift or day.
