TASK 70-11-60-110-503 The Procedure To Strip Paint from Aluminum Alloy Parts
General
The paint strippers recommended in this procedure are two-layer solutions; the upper layer is an oil seal to reduce losses by evaporation of the lower layer; the lower layer is the active part of the solution.

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OPERATOR TO OBTAIN AND OBSERVE THE MANUFACTURERS MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS FOR CONSUMABLE MATERIALS INFORMATION SUCH AS, HAZARDOUS INGREDIENTS, PHYSICAL/CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS, FIRE, EXPLOSION, REACTIVITY, HEALTH HAZARD DATA, PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING, USE AND CONTROL MEASURES AND ALSO TO TAKE LOCAL REGULATIONS INTO CONSIDERATION.Degrease, if necessary, refer to SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.
UseCoMat 01-120K HOT PAINT STRIPPER at 176 - 230 deg F (80 - 110 deg C) for 1 to 4 hours.
Use CoMat 01-120B HOT PAINT STRIPPER at 176 - 230 deg F (80 - 110 deg C) for 1 to 4 hours.
Use CoMat 01-120 HOT PAINT STRIPPER at 158 - 176 deg F (70 - 80 deg C) for 1 to 2 hours.
Use CoMat 01-120E HOT PAINT STRIPPER at 160 - 200 deg F (71 - 92 deg C) for 1 to 6 hours.

CAUTION
PARTS MUST BE DRY TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE STRIPPER WITH WATER. IF THE STRIPPING SOLUTION BECOMES CONTAMINATED WITH WATER IT WILL CORRODE THE PARTS.NOTE
Be sure parts are fully within the lower phase of the two-layered liquid.NOTE
Maintain the solutions to the manufacturer's instructions.Put parts fully in one of the solutions that follow:
NOTE
If the paint or varnish is only softened, a soft bristle brush, tampico brush, CoMat 05-125 ABRASIVE PAD, SILICON CARBIDE, ULTRA-FINE Scotch Brite, or CoMat 05-126 ABRASIVE PAD, ALUMINUM OXIDE, VERY FINE Scotch Brite may be used to remove the remaining coating.NOTE
Be sure to pressure flush the part again if you used a brush to remove any remaining coating.Put parts fully in the cold water tank; then pressure spray rinse with cold water over the cold water tank.
