IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OPERATOR TO OBTAIN AND OBSERVE THE MANUFACTURERS MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS FOR CONSUMABLE MATERIALS INFORMATION SUCH AS, HAZARDOUS INGREDIENTS, PHYSICAL/CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS, FIRE, EXPLOSION, REACTIVITY, HEALTH HAZARD DATA, PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING, USE AND CONTROL MEASURES AND ALSO TO TAKE LOCAL REGULATIONS INTO CONSIDERATION.

Procedure

1. SUBTASK 70-12-08-100-001 Make-up of the Abrasive Blast Compound Slurry

   1. The abrasive blast compound slurry contains a concentration of 4.0 to 6.0 lb of CoMat 01-202 WET ABRASIVE COMPOUND or CoMat 01-204 WET ABRASIVE COMPOUND for each US gal of slurry (480 gm to 720 gm of CoMat 01-202 WET ABRASIVE COMPOUND or CoMat 01-204 WET ABRASIVE COMPOUND for each litre of slurry); with 4.0 oz of CoMat 01-207 ANTISOLIDIFYING COMPOUND for each 50 lb of wet abrasive compound (5 gm of CoMat 01-207 ANTISOLIDIFYING COMPOUND for each 1 kg of wet abrasive compound) and 15 ml of CoMat 01-501 CORROSION INHIBITOR (WATER SOLUBLE) or CoMat 01-502 CORROSION INHIBITOR (WATER SOLUBLE) or CoMat 10-097 CORROSION INHIBITOR,(NON-NITRITE) or CoMat 10-099 CORROSION INHIBITOR,WATER SOLUBLE or CoMat 10-134 CORROSION INHIBITOR,(NON-NITRITE) for each US gal of slurry (4 ml of CoMat 01-501 CORROSION INHIBITOR (WATER SOLUBLE) or CoMat 01-502 CORROSION INHIBITOR (WATER SOLUBLE) or CoMat 10-097 CORROSION INHIBITOR,(NON-NITRITE) or CoMat 10-099 CORROSION INHIBITOR,WATER SOLUBLE or CoMat 10-134 CORROSION INHIBITOR,(NON-NITRITE) for each litre of slurry).

   2. Fill the tank to approximately 75 percent of its operation level with water.

   3. Operate the pump, then carefully add the necessary quantity of wet abrasive compound to the water.

   4. Add the necessary quantities of antisolidifying compound and corrosion inhibitor to the solution. Corrosion inhibitor is not necessary if the steel components in the blasting equipment are made of stainless steel.

   5. Fill the tank to 100 percent of its operation level with water.

   6. Let the compound slurry become fully mixed, for 2 to 3 minutes, before you operate the machine.
