WARNING
Procedure
It is not necessary to use anti-solidifying compound in blasting equipment from some manufacturers. Refer to the blasting equipment manufacturer's instructions to find if anti-solidifying compound is not necessary.
NOTE
Corrosion inhibitor (non-nitrite) is not necessary to use if the blast equipment is made of stainless steel. This is an aqueous Slurry at a concentration of 1.9 lbs/gal (225 g/l) of CoMat 05-199 ALUMINUM OXIDE, F500 GRIT and 4 oz.wt of CoMat 01-207 ANTISOLIDIFYING COMPOUND to 50 lbs. of abrasive (5g of anti-solidifying compound for each one kg of abrasive) and 15 ml/gallon (4 ml/l) of one of the corrosion inhibitors in the consumables, materials and expendables table.
SUBTASK 70-12-13-100-001 Concentration of the Slurry
Fill the tank with cold water to approximately 75 percent of its operating volume.
Slowly and carefully add the necessary quantity of CoMat 05-199 ALUMINUM OXIDE, F500 GRIT.
It is not necessary to use anti-solidifying compound in blasting equipment from some manufacturers. Refer to the blasting equipment manufacturer's instructions to find if anti-solidifying compound is not necessary.
The corrosion inhibitor is optional if the blasting equipment is made of stainless steel.
Add the necessary quantities of anti-solidifying compound and corrosion inhibitor.
Fill the tank with clean water to 100 percent of the operating volume.
Let the slurry mix freely for two to three minutes before you operate the machine.
NOTE
This Slurry must be changed after every 40 hours of machine operation. Refer to TASK 70-12-13-200-502 for control of the Slurry.
