Safety Precautions

Increase the temperature by 15 deg F (8 deg C) every minute. Increase the temperature of the parts to 775 to 825 deg F (413 to 441 deg C). Keep at this temperature until the pressure is 0.0005 torr (0.066 Pa).

Increase the temperature by 15 deg F (8 deg C) every minute. Increase the temperature of the parts to 975 to 1025 deg F (524 to 552 deg C). Keep at this temperature until the pressure is 0.0005 torr (0.066 Pa).

Increase the temperature of the parts to 1675 to 1725 deg F (913 to 941 deg C). Keep at this temperature until the pressure is 0.0005 torr (0.066 Pa).

Increase the temperature of the parts to 1900 to 1950 deg F (1038 to 1066 deg C). Keep at this temperature for 10 to 25 minutes. Turn off the heat.

CAUTION

PARTS FABRICATED OF HARDENABLE MATERIAL WOULD BE OVER HARDENED IF SUBJECTED TO ONLY THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OF A FURNACE BRAZE CYCLE. THESE PARTS MUST GET THE REMAINDER OF A COMPLETE HEAT TREATMENT CYCLE (FOR EXAMPLE - TEMPERING, PRECIPITATION HEAT TREATMENT) AFTER THE BRAZE CYCLE. THIS WILL RETURN THE PARTS TO THE CORRECT PHYSICAL CONDITION.

Procedure

    1. Cool and Remove the Parts

    2. Reduce the temperature in the furnace to 1600 to 1700 deg F (871 to 927 deg C).

      1. Open the dampers and let in the argon atmosphere. Start the recirculating system.

      2. Martensitic and precipitation hardenable alloys are to be cooled to 975 to 1025 deg F (524 to 552 deg C). Cool at a rate equivalent to air cool or faster.

    3. Use force to cool the parts to less than 300 deg F (149 deg C). Remove the parts from the furnace.
