Procedure

    1. Laser Hole Drilling

    2. Electron Beam Metal Removal (EBMR) is usually used as a hole drilling or cutting procedure. The hole or cut is made by a concentrated electron beam on the part. The beam is one or more pulses of various millisecond lengths of time. Each pulse gives sufficient heat to partially vaporize the material at the point where it touches the part. More than one pulse will be necessary to make a hole.

    3. Laser Beam Metal Removal (LBMR) (PWA 119) is usually used as a hole drilling or cutting procedure. Concentrated light energy pulses of 0.3 to 1.0 millisecond time are applied on the part by optical equipment. Each pulse gives sufficient heat to partially vaporize the material at the point where it touches the part. Possibly more than one pulse will be necessary to make a hole.

    4. Quality standards will be given in the specified repair procedure.
