Procedure

1. Refer to Figure.
2. With the use of a drilling machine, drill the flare of the shank nut until the flare twists.
3. Remove sharp edges around the nut location hole.
4. Clean the hole with a soft, clean cloth and blast with air.
5. Visually inspect the nut location hole.
6. Fit a new shank nut in to the location hole. Make sure the shank nut is installed correctly.
7. Select the applicable peening tool.
8. Hold the shank nut in position and make the flare.
