Procedure
Increase the temperature of the part to 1875 to 1925 deg F (1024 to 1052 deg C) and hold for one hour. CoMat 03-138 HYDROGEN GAS (PROTECTIVE ATMOSPHERE) or CoMat 03-010 ARGON GAS or CoMat 03-117 ARGON GAS or CoMat 03-118 ARGON GAS, or a vacuum is a permitted atmosphere.

CAUTION
THIS CYCLE MUST BE USED TO SOLUTION HEAT TREAT IAE 1038 HASTELLOY X MATERIAL.NOTE
When solution heat treatment is to be followed by a weld repair, it is necessary to fully remove oxides. Hydrogen is recommended because of its cleaning properties to the part. Hydrogen cleaning removes oxides from all surfaces, which include those difficult to clean mechanically and, to some degree, from the inside of cracks to be welded.
