The ultimate aim and the basic function of any surface treatment applied to engine components is that of protection, either against corrosion or wear, (or a combination of both).
A secondary function, rather more applicable to overhauled items is the restoration of original dimensions following unacceptable wear or after a salvage machining operation.
The treatments employed by IAE involve the electro-chemical and chemical processes, organic and inorganic coatings.
