    1. Minimum Thread Projection Through Nuts

      1. Control of the projection of an externally threaded bolt, screw, or stud through its nut is important.

        1. To get the thread to fully touch between parts.

        2. To make the maximum strength of the assembly.

        3. To make sure the lock property of a self-locking nut operates correctly.

      2. Thread projection must align the minimum conditions as shown in Figure. These conditions do not apply to slotted steel lock nuts.
