Description
TASK 70-46-00-460-501 Interference And Shrink Fits - General Information
General
Interference - fit threads are threads in which the externally threaded part is larger than the internally threaded part when the two parts are in the released condition and which, when assembled, become the same size and are held by a torque caused through elastic compression, plastic movement of material, or the two mixed.
An interence fit is one having limits of size so specified that an interference always results when mating parts are assembled.
The shrinkage allowance changes a great deal, with the slope and structure of the part which has to be shrunk into place. The thickness or quantity of metal around the hole is the most important detail.
The condition of the metal can also effect the interference fit.
Special instructions applicable to the Interference and Shrink Fits Procedure of V2500 parts are contained in the applicable chapter/manual.
