    3. Preparation and Handling

      Preparation and handling of module and component parts for shipping.

      1. Preparation

        1. Prepare and store modules and component parts as given in the Engine Manual.

      2. Container Handling

        1. Installation and removal of containers must be done with an applicable fork lift truck or lifting sling.

      3. Container/Secure

        1. Movement of containers during shipping must be prevented by the approved procedure applicable to the equipment used.

          1. Correctly held with rope and attached rings

          2. Correctly held with adjustable chains.

          3. Attach containers to a rigid pallet type of equipment.

          4. Apply applicable chock methods.

      4. Weather Protection

        1. Make sure that correct protection covers, such as tarpaulins are attached over containers to guard against bad weather conditions.

      1. Documentation/Inspect

        1. Before you send the container make sure that documentation (ie Advice and Release notes, IAE forms, module and container log cards and module identification labels) applicable to the container being moved, are attached in, or attached satisfactorily to, the container.

        1. Make sure that container markings are clearly specified and address labels correctly attached to the container.

      2. Toggle fasteners/Inspect

        1. Make sure that all toggle fasteners are correctly attached and are locked with wire in the safety position.
