Description
TASK 70-64-01-640-501 Misuse Of Molybdenum Disulphide Lubricants
General
Temperatures above 572 deg F (300 deg C) will cause the failure of molybdenum disulphide lubricants. This failure releases sulfer which can cause stress corrosion and failure of engine parts.
Most of the bolt materials used in the higher temperature areas of an engine are sensitive to sulfer. If is very important that the supply and use of these lubricants must only be used on parts specified in the engine manual.
