The IDG oil cooling tubing must be cleaned and inspected before this pressure test, Refer to Cleaning-000 TASK 24-21-49-100-100 and Inspection-000 TASK 24-21-49-200-100.

NOTE

Special tools are identified in the procedure by the tool primary number.

The Test Equipment Specification

To do the test on the IDG oil cooling tubing use equipment equivalent to that shown in Figure and Figure.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 24-21-49-780-051 Prepare the Tubes (01-100, 01-500, 02-100, 02-500, 03-100 and 03-500) for the Hydraulic Pressure Test

    2. Install the IAE 1N20425 Pressurising adapter 1 off and the AGS164/R fibre washer 1 off to the tube (01-100). Safety the components with 0.250 in (6.4 mm) bolts, washers and nuts.

    3. Install the IAE 1N20432 Pressurising adapter 1 off to the tube (01-500).

    4. Install the IAE 1N20432 Pressurising adapter 1 off to the tube (02-100).

    5. Install the IAE 1N20433 Pressurising adapter 1 off to the tube (02-500).

    6. Install the IAE 1N20433 Pressurising adapter 1 off to the tube (03-100).

    7. Install the IAE 1N20424 Pressurising adapter 1 off and the AGS164/D fibre washer 1 off to the tube (03-500). Safety the components with 0.250 in (6.4 mm) bolts, washers and nuts.

    1. SUBTASK 24-21-49-780-052 Do the Hydraulic Pressure Test on the Tubes (01-100, 01-500, 02-100, 02-500, 03-100 and 03-500)

    2. Connect the tube to the outlet of the Hydraulic pressure testing rig and the bleed valve adapter. Make sure that the bleed valve is open.

    3. Make sure that the pressure control valve is set to zero.

    4. Slowly turn the pressure control valve until the fluid comes out of the bleed valve.

    5. Close the bleed valve.

    6. CAUTION

      DO NOT GO PAST THE TEST PRESSURE SHOWN BELOW. IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TUBE. IF THE PRESSURE IN THE TUBE GETS TO MORE THAN THAT SHOWN BELOW, REJECT THE TUBE.

      Increase the pressure in the tubes (01-100, 01-500, 02-100, 02-500, 03-100 and 03-500) to 650 psi (4485 kPa).

    7. Let the pressure stay in the tube for 2 minutes.

    8. Make sure that the tube has no leaks. If the tube has leaks, reject the tube, Refer to Inspection-000 TASK 24-21-49-200-100.

    9. Decrease the pressure in the tube to zero.

    10. Open the bleed valve.

    11. Disconnect the tube from the outlet of the Hydraulic pressure testing rig and the bleed valve adapter.

    12. Remove the adapters from the tube.

    13. WARNING

      BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE COMPRESSED AIR. PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND GOGGLES.

      Remove unwanted fluid from the tube with clean, dry compressed air.

    1. SUBTASK 24-21-49-780-053 Prepare the Tubes (01-100, 01-500, 02-100, 02-500, 03-100 and 03-500) for the Pneumatic Pressure Test

    2. Do again the procedure to prepare the tubes for the hydraulic pressure test, refer to Step.

    3. Install an applicable blanking cap to the open end of the tubes (01-100, 01-500 and 03-100).

    4. Install an applicable blanking plug to the open end of the tubes (02-100, 02-500 and 03-500).

    1. SUBTASK 24-21-49-780-054 Do the Pneumatic Pressure Test on the Tubes (01-100, 01-500, 02-100, 02-500, 03-100 and 03-500)

    2. Connect the tube to the outlet of the Pneumatic pressure testing rig.

    3. Put a pressure of 14.5 psi (100 kPa) in the tube.

    4. Put the tube in the water tank.

    5. Let the pressure stay in the tube for 1 minute.

    6. Make sure that the tube has no leaks. If the tube has leaks, reject the tube, Refer to Inspection-000 TASK 24-21-49-200-100.

    7. Decrease the pressure in the tube to zero.

    8. Disconnect the tube from the outlet of the Pneumatic pressure testing rig.

    9. Remove the pressure seal cap or plug.
