General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

Apply the approved CoMat 10-058 PENETRATING OIL before the removal of threaded parts and parts with an interference fit. Let the parts soak before removal.

The number for each radial location must be identified in a clockwise direction. These start at the engine top position when you look from the rear of the engine, unless stated differently in the procedure.

For standard torque data and procedures, refer to the SPM TASK 70-41-00-400-501.

To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 71-00-21-050-051 Remove the Forward Right-Hand Hold-Open Rod Support Bracket

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the three bolts and washers (existing hardware) that attach the forward hold-open rod support bracket (01-020) to the fan case at 144 degrees radial.

    3. Replace the bolts and washers in the fan case. Torque the bolts to 180 to 220 lbf.in (20 to 25 Nm).

    2. SUBTASK 71-00-21-050-052 Remove the Forward Left-Hand Hold-Open Rod Support Bracket

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the three bolts and washers (existing hardware) that attach the forward hold-open rod support bracket (01-010) to the fan case at 216 degrees radial.

    3. Replace the bolts and washers in the fan case. Torque the bolts to 180 to 220 lbf.in (20 to 25 Nm).
