Preliminary Requirements

Procedure

1. SUBTASK 71-52-43-350-057 Disassemble Backshells

   1. Refer to Figure.

   2. Loosen the screws on the backshell clamp.

   3. Loosen the backshell clamp.

   4. 

      CAUTION

      DO NOT CUT THE INDIVIDUAL SHIELD.

      Remove the ground ring.

   5. Loosen the backshell nut.

2. SUBTASK 71-52-43-350-058 Remove Pin and Sockets from Connectors

   1. Refer to Figure.

   2. Remove the contacts (pins and sockets) from the connectors

      1. Use a removal tool.

3. SUBTASK 71-52-43-350-059 Remove Bent Contacts from Cables

   1. Cut off the bent contacts from the cables.

4. SUBTASK 71-52-43-350-060 Install Contacts to cables,

   1. Refer to Figure.

   2. Remove the cable insulation

      1. Use a cable stripper.

      2. Remove cable insulation to expose 0.25 in. (6.4 mm) for contact size 16 and 0.19 in. (4.8 mm) for contact size 20.

   3. Install the contact bucket

      1. Use a Crimp tool and locator.

      2. Install the conductor into the contact bucket until it bottoms or is visible in the inspection hole.

5. SUBTASK 71-52-43-350-061 Install Contacts into Connectors

   1. Install the contacts into the connectors

      1. Use a Removal/insertion tool.

   2. Install unused contacts into spare holes in the connectors

      1. Use a Removal/insertion tool.

   3. Install sealing plugs to the spare holes containing unused contacts.

6. SUBTASK 71-52-43-350-062 Assemble Backshells

   1. Refer to Figure.

   2. Screw the backshell nut on the connector.

   3. Tighten the backshell nut

      1. Turn a quarter rotation from the above position.

   4. Install the ground ring on the backshell sleeve.

   5. Tighten the backshell clamp

      1. Turn a half rotation from the above position.

   6. Wrap the cables with the heat shrinkable tube to secure the cables tight under the clamp area

      1. Use heat shrinkable tube.

   7. Tighten the screws on the backshell clamp.

7. SUBTASK 71-52-43-350-063 Install Locking Wire

   1. Install the locking wire on the backshell

      1. Use CoMat 02-146 LOCKWIRE or CoMat 02-147 LOCKWIRE.
