General

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-00-450-054-A01 Install the Master MCD Probe (Pre SBE 79-0042)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Make sure the MCD is clean.

    3. Lightly lubricate two new Magnetic Chip Detector (79-22-45, 01-030) packing 2 off with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS. Put the packings on the MCD probe.

      4. Install the MCD probe at position 1.

      1. Carefully put the MCD probe in to the housing. At the same time align the bayonet pins with the slots in the housing.

      2. NOTE

        The spring pressure will keep the MCD probe in position.

        Push the MCD probe into the housing and turn it clockwise, until it stops. Release the MCD, probe.

        3. Make sure the MCD probe is installed correctly.

        1. Lightly pull the MCD probe and try to turn it clockwise and counterclockwise. The MCD probe must stay locked.

        2. Make sure that the aligment marks on the MCD probe and its housing are aligned.

    2. SUBTASK 72-00-00-450-054-B01 Install the Master MCD Probe (SBE 79-0042)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Make sure the MCD is clean.

    3. Lightly lubricate two new Magnetic Chip Detector (79-22-45, 01-053) seal ring1 off with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS. Put the seal ring on the MCD probe.

      4. Install the MCD probe at position 1.

      1. Carefully put the MCD probe in to the housing. At the same time align the bayonet pins with the slots in the housing.

      2. NOTE

        The spring pressure will keep the MCD probe in position.

        Push the MCD probe into the housing and turn it clockwise, until it stops. Release the MCD, probe.

        3. Make sure the MCD probe is installed correctly.

        1. Lightly pull the MCD probe and try to turn it clockwise and counterclockwise. The MCD probe must stay locked.

        2. Make sure that the aligment marks on the MCD probe and its housing are aligned.

    3. SUBTASK 72-00-00-450-055 Install the remaining MCD Probes

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Do steps given in Step and Step for the MCD probes positions 2 thru 7.
