General

All the bolts, the nuts and the washers referred in this TASK are part of the special tools.

NOTE

Special tools are identified in the procedure by the tool primary number.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-32-560-057 Install the Sling Tools on to the LP Compressor/Intermediate Case Module

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      2. Attach IAE 1J13003 Turnover bracket 1 off on to the front flange of the LP compressor/intermediate case module.

      1. Attach the turnover bracket on to the front bracket at the top position with the six capscrews and nuts. Tighten the nuts.

      2. Attach the turnover bracket to a hoist.

      3. Make the hoist rope tighter.

      3. Install IAE 1F10051 Two cable sling 1 off on to the LP compressor/intermediate case module.

      1. Make sure that the eye plate (part of the two cable sling) is at the center of gravity. If necessary, turn the handle of the two cable sling to put the eye plate in to the identified position.

      2. Attach the eye plate to the second hoist.

      3. Lift the two cable sling and put it above the LP compressor/intermediate case module.

      4. Install the two hoists of the sling on to the two beams of the rear trunnions on the LP compressor/intermediate case module. Safety with the hooks.

      5. Make the hoist rope tighter.

    2. SUBTASK 72-00-32-560-058 Lift and Turn the LP Compressor/Intermediate Case Module to Vertical

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. NOTE

      Operate the two hoists equally at the same time to keep the LP compressor/intermediate case module horizontal. Move the LP compressor/intermediate case module away from the pedestals fully.

      Slowly lift the LP compressor/intermediate case module with the two hoists until it is clear of the pedestals.

    3. Set the two hoists to turn the LP compressor/intermediate case module vertical with the front end down.

    4. Remove the hoist rope from the turnover bracket.

    3. SUBTASK 72-00-32-560-059 Prepare for Installation of the LP Compressor/Intermediate Case Module on to the Storage Stand

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Release and remove the capscrews and nuts which attach the turnover bracket to the front bracket. Remove the turnover bracket.

    3. Release and remove the capscrews, plain washers and nuts which attach the front bracket to the LP compressor/intermediate case. Remove the front bracket.

    4. Put IAE 1J12010 Storage stand 1 off below the LP compressor/intermediate case module.

    4. SUBTASK 72-00-32-560-060 Install the LP Compressor/Intermediate Case Module on to the Storage Stand

      1. Lower the LP compressor/intermediate case module on to the storage stand.

      1. Lower the LP compressor/intermediate case module.

      2. Align the bolt holes in the LP compressor/intermediate case module with those in the storage stand.

      3. Put the LP compressor/intermediate case module on the storage stand and safety with the bolts.

    5. SUBTASK 72-00-32-560-061 Remove the Sling Tools from the LP Compressor/Intermediate Case Module

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Remove the two cable sling.

      1. Lower the hoist and loosen the hoist rope.

      2. Open the clips and remove the hooks of the two cable sling from the two beams of the rear trunnions.

      3. Disengage the two cable sling from the hoist.

      3. Remove the two trunnions from the two rear brackets.

      1. Remove the eight bolts and plain washers which safety the rear trunnions to the rear bracket.

      2. Remove the rear trunnions from the rear brackets.

      4. Remove the rear brackets from the LP compressor/intermediate case module.

      1. Remove the four bolts and nuts which safety the two beams of the rear bracket to the LP compressor/intermediate case module.

      2. Remove the beams.
