General

This TASK gives the procedure to remove the electronic engine control (EEC) from the LP compressor/intermediate case module.

Remove and discard the lockwire before parts are disconnected or removed.

Discard all rubber seal rings and packings removed in this procedure.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants, refer to the IPC.

NOTE

Special tools are identified in the procedure by the tool primary number.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-32-050-066 Disconnect the EEC

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the front and rear sides of the EEC. Use theIAE 1R19416 EEC harness wrench 1 off.

    3. CAUTION

      MAKE SURE YOU DISCONNECT THE DATA ENTRY PLUG FROM THE EEC. DO NOT REMOVE OR CUT THE BACKSHELL CONNECTING CHAIN/CABLE THAT ATTACHES THE DATA ENTRY PLUG ASSEMBLY TO THE LP COMPRESSOR/INTERMEDIATE CASE FLANGE. DAMAGE TO THE PARTS COULD RESULT.

      NOTE

      The data entry plug assembly is permanently attached to the LP compressor/intermediate case flange by its connecting chain/cable. The data entry plug is an engine part and must stay with the engine. The connecting chain/cable is not an earth strap.

      Disconnect the data entry plug from the rear side of the EEC. Use the IAE 1R19416 EEC harness wrench 1 off.

    4. Disconnect the flexible hoses from the adapters and union on the bottom of the EEC.

    5. Install the protective covers in all the flexible hose openings.

    6. Remove the vent plug assembly.

    2. SUBTASK 72-00-32-050-067 Remove the EEC

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. WARNING

      BE CAREFUL DURING THE REMOVAL OF THE EEC. IT WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 41 LBS (18.6 KG).

      Remove the bolt which holds the ground cable to the EEC.

    3. Remove the bolts and the washers from the four shock mounts and remove the EEC from the engine.

    3. SUBTASK 72-00-32-050-068 Remove the Adapters and Unions from the EEC

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the adapters and unions from the EEC and discard the seal rings.

    4. SUBTASK 72-00-32-050-069 Install the Protective Covers

    1. Install the protective covers on to all the openings on the EEC.
