Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-560-057-A00 V2500-A1: Install the Lift and Turn Fixture on to the Rear of the Partial HP System Module

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Put the sleeve (part of IAE 1P16043 Lift and turn fixture 1 off) on to the HP compressor shaft.

      1. Put the sleeve on the HP compressor shaft. Make sure the slots in the end of the sleeve are at the rear.

      2. Push the sleeve down the HP compressor shaft until it touches the No. 4 bearing seal spacer.

      3. Engage the fixture nut on to the thread on the end of the HP compressor shaft and tighten the nut. Use IAE 1P16056 Hand wrench 1 off.

      3. Install the fixture assembly on to the diffuser case rear flange.

      1. Make sure the eight thumb screws are below the surface of the fixture assembly bore.

      2. Attach the hoist to the lift eye on IAE 1F10052 Two cables sling 1 off.

      3. Lift the sling. Make sure the lift brackets are in the inner position of the sling.

      4. Attach the hook and bolt plate to the fixture assembly trunnions. Insert the safety clip to safety the fixture assembly.

      5. Lift the fixture assembly. Make sure the fixture flange is at the bottom.

      6. Carefully lower the fixture assembly on to the sleeve. Align the trunnions of the fixture assembly with the HP compressor front cases splitline.

      7. Lower the fixture assembly on to the diffuser case rear flange.

      8. Install the 10 caphead screws and the 10 washers.

      9. Release the hold on the fixture assembly. Do not remove the sling.

      10. Tighten the 10 caphead screws to safety the fixture assembly to the diffuser case rear flange. Tighten the eight thumb screws.

    2. SUBTASK 72-00-40-560-057-B00 V2500-A5: Install the Lift and Turn Fixture on to the Rear of the Partial HP System Module

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Put the sleeve (part of IAE 1P16043 Lift and turn fixture 1 off) on to the HP compressor shaft.

      1. Put the sleeve on the HP compressor shaft. Make sure the slots in the end of the sleeve are at the rear.

      2. Push the sleeve down the HP compressor shaft until it touches the No. 4 bearing seal spacer.

      3. Engage the fixture nut on to the thread on the end of the HP compressor shaft and tighten the nut. Use IAE 1P16284 Hand wrench 1 off.

      3. Install the fixture assembly (part of the lift and turn fixture) on to the diffuser case rear flange.

      1. Make sure the eight thumb screws are below the surface of the fixture assembly bore.

      2. Attach the hoist to the lift eye on IAE 1F10052 Two cables sling 1 off.

      3. Lift the sling. Make sure the lift brackets are in the inner position of the sling.

      4. Attach the hook and bolt plate to the fixture assembly trunnions. Insert the safety clip to safety the fixture assembly.

      5. Lift the fixture assembly. Make sure the fixture flange is at the bottom.

      6. Carefully lower the fixture assembly on to the sleeve. Align the trunnions of the fixture assembly with the HP compressor front cases splitline.

      7. Lower the fixture assembly on to the diffuser case rear flange.

      8. Install the 10 caphead screws and the 10 washers.

      9. Release the hold on the fixture assembly. Do not remove the sling.

      10. Tighten the 10 caphead screws to safety the fixture assembly to the diffuser case rear flange. Tighten the eight thumb screws.

    3. SUBTASK 72-00-40-560-058 Attach the Trunnions and Lift Sling to the LP Compressor/Intermediate Case Module

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Attach IAE 1J12008 Trunnion 2 off to IAE 1J12000 Lift bracket 2 off. Secure with the eight trunnion bolts and the eight trunnion washers.

    3. Attach the trunnion/lift bracket assemblies on to the LP compressor/intermediate case module between flange FE and FD. Secure with the four bolts and nuts.

      4. Attach IAE 1F10051 Two cable sling 1 off to the trunnions on the module.

      1. Attach a hoist to the lift eye on the lift sling.

      2. Lift the sling.

      3. Lower the lift sling to permit the hook and bolt plate to be attached to the trunnions on the LP compressor/intermediate case module.

      4. Attach the hook and bolt plates to the outer trunnions.

    4. SUBTASK 72-00-40-560-059 Lift and Turn the LP Compressor/Intermediate Case Assembly and the Partial HP System Module in to the Horizontal Position

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Remove the eight tool nuts, the eight tool bolts and the eight tool washers which attach the LP compressor/intermediate case module front flange to the working stands (IAE 1J12210 Vertical build stand).

    3. Use the rear hoist to lift the modules from the working stands.

    4. Remove the four working stands from below the LP compressor/intermediate case module.

    5. Use the front hoist to turn the modules into the horizontal position.

      6. Install the LP compressor/intermediate case module and partial HP system module on to the support posts and cradle pedestal.

      1. Attach IAE 1P16002 Cradle pedestal 1 off to IAE 1F10024 Support spacer 1 off with the four tool bolts and the four tool nuts. Make sure that the cradle pedestal support bracket is at its lowest position.

      2. Make sure that the trunnion supports (part of IAE 1F10028 Support Pedestal) 2 off are in the upper position.

      3. Put the support posts in to position. The trunnion supports must be below the trunnions on the LP compressor/intermediate case module.

      4. Put the cradle pedestal under the HP system module with the support assembly approximately 1 in. (25 mm) forward of the diffuser case rear flange.

      5. Lower the LP compressor/Intermediate case module and the partial HP system module until the trunnions are correctly located in the trunnion supports.

      6. Turn the adjustment handle on the cradle pedestal until the support assembly touches the diffuser case.

      7. Lower the lift slings to allow the support posts and cradle pedestal to take the weight of the modules. This will permit the lift sling, hook and bolt plates to be removed.

      8. Make sure the engine horizontal centerline is level. If necessary, use the cradle pedestal to level the engine.

      9. Remove the hook and bolt plates from the front trunnions.

      10. Put the wide lift sling on to a suitable work surface.

      11. Remove the lift sling from the hoist.

    5. SUBTASK 72-00-40-560-060-A00 V2500-A1: Remove the Lift and Turn Fixture from the Diffuser Case Rear Flange

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Use the hoist to adjust the height of the narrow lift sling to hold the fixture assembly.

    3. Remove the 10 caphead screws and the 10 washers.

    4. Release the 8 thumb screws.

    5. Remove the fixture assembly.

    6. Remove the fixture nut. Use IAE 1P16056 Hand wrench 1 off.

    7. Remove the sleeve.

    8. Put the lift and turn fixture on to an applicable work surface and remove the sling.

    9. Remove the sling from the hoist.

    6. SUBTASK 72-00-40-560-060-B00 V2500-A5: Remove the Lift and Turn Fixture from the Diffuser Case Rear Flange

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Use the hoist to adjust the height of the two cables sling (narrow) to hold the fixture assembly.

    3. Remove the 10 caphead screws and the 10 washers.

    4. Release the 8 thumb screws.

    5. Remove the fixture assembly.

    6. Remove the fixture nut. Use IAE 1P16284 Hand wrench 1 off.

    7. Remove the sleeve.

    8. Put the lift and turn fixture on to an applicable work surface and remove the sling.

    9. Remove the sling from the hoist.
