General

This TASK gives the procedure to remove the fuel distribution valve filter from the HP system module.

Remove and discard the lockwire before parts are disconnected or removed.

Discard all rubber seal rings and packings removed in this procedure.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants, refer to the IPC.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-050-054 Remove the Fuel Inlet Tube and the Fuel Distribution Valve Filter Cover

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. WARNING

      A SMALL QUANTITY OF FUEL WILL DRAIN FROM THE FUEL INLET LINE. REMOVE ALL FLAMMABLE MATERIAL FROM THE AREA. DO NOT LET FUEL TOUCH THE EYES OR THE SKIN.

      NOTE

      Be prepared to catch the remaining fuel in a container.

      Remove the three bolts that hold the fuel inlet tube to the filter cover.

    3. Move the fuel inlet tube away from the filter cover far enough to drain the remaining fuel.

    4. NOTE

      More remaining fuel will drain from the fuel inlet tube when it is removed.

      Disconnect and remove the fuel inlet tube from the top of the bifurcation panel.

    5. Remove and discard the seal ring from the connector on the bifurcation panel.

    6. Put the protective covers over the two ends of the fuel inlet tube.

    7. Remove the eight bolts and the eight washers that attach the filter cover.

    8. Remove the filter cover.

    9. Remove and discard the packing.

    2. SUBTASK 72-00-40-050-055 Remove the Fuel Distribution Valve Filter

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. WARNING

      A SMALL QUANTITY OF FUEL WILL DRAIN FROM THE FUEL DISTRIBUTION VALVE HOUSING. REMOVE ALL FLAMMABLE MATERIAL FROM THE AREA. DO NOT LET FUEL TOUCH THE EYES OR THE SKIN.

      Make a loop of CoMat 02-141 LOCKWIRE, under two of the four centering lugs on the exposed end of the filter.

    3. Pull on the wire, and remove the filter from the fuel distribution valve housing.

    4. Remove and discard the packing.
