General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the EIPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the EIPC.

Apply CoMat 10-058 PENETRATING OIL before the removal of threaded parts and parts with an interference fit. Let the parts soak before removal.

Discard the rubber seal ring and packings removed in this procedure.

NOTE

To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.

WARNING

DO NOT GET ENGINE OIL ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. FLUSH THE OIL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. THE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.

CAUTION

DO NOT LET ENGINE FUEL OR OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED FUEL OR OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FUEL OR OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-60-040-051 Remove the Oil Quantity Transmitter

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. CAUTION

      DO NOT REMOVE THE HEAT SHRINK FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER. THE HEAT SHRINK IS REQUIRED FOR THE TRANSMITTER TO FUNCTION CORRECTLY.

      Disconnect the electrical connector from the oil quantity transmitter OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-010). Put blanking caps on the electrical connector and the electrical receptacle.

    3. Make a note of the position of the oil quantity transmitter OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-010), it must be put in the same position on installation.

    4. Remove the four bolts OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-020) from the oil quantity transmitter OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-010).

    5. Pre SBE 79-0017: Carefully remove the oil quantity transmitter OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-010) from the oil tank OIL-OIL TANK (79-11-41, 01-860). Put a blanking cap on the oil tank OIL-OIL TANK (79-11-41, 01-860).

      SBE 79-0017: Carefully remove the oil quantity transmitter (79-31-15-01, 01-010), the spacer OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-025) and the seal ring OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-032) from the oil tank OIL-OIL TANK (79-11-41,01-860). Put a blanking cap on the oil tank OIL-OIL TANK (79-11-41, 01-860).

    6. Remove the seal-ring OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-030) from the oil quantity transmitter OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-010).
