General

This TASK gives the procedure to move the LP compressor/intermediate case module from the storage stand to the turnover stand.

NOTE

Special tools are identified in the procedure by the tool primary number.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-00-030-078 Install the Rear Sling to the LP Compressor/Intermediate Case Module

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Attach a hoist to IAE 1J12487 Rear sling 1 off.

    3. Move the rear sling adjacent to the fan frame rear flange of the module.

    4. Align the 20 holes in the lift sling (part of the rear sling) with the 20 holes in the fan frame rear flange.

    5. Attach the lift sling with the 20 bolts and the four ring stoppers (part of the rear sling). Tighten the bolts.

    2. SUBTASK 72-32-00-030-079 Install the Brackets A and B of the Turnover Stand on to the Module

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Attach the two adapters (part of IAE 1J12311 Turnover stand 1 off) to the fan case flanges FD and FE of the module at 3 and 9 o'clock positions. Attach the adapters with the four bolts and nuts. Tighten the bolts.

    3. Install the bracket A on the adapter at 3 o'clock position. Attach with the four washers and bolts. Tighten the bolts.

    4. Install the bracket B on the adapter at 9 o'clock position. Attach with the four washers and bolts. Tighten the bolts.

    3. SUBTASK 72-32-00-030-080 Install the Module to the Turnover Stand

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Lift and remove the module from the storage stand.

    3. Move the module adjacent to the supports A and B of the turnover stand. Figure.

    4. Slowly lower the module until each square rod end of the brackets A and B are correctly engaged with each slot in the supports A and B.

    5. Install each of the two plates (part of IAE 1J12311 Turnover stand 1 off) to the supports A and B and attach with the four bolts and washers. Tighten the bolts.

    6. NOTE

      Make sure that the hole in the support C and one of the eight holes in the handle are aligned. If necessary, turn the handle to align the two holes.

      Install the lock pin of the turnover stand into position to lock the handle of the turnover stand, Figure.

    4. SUBTASK 72-32-00-030-081 Remove the Rear Sling from the Module

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. WARNING

      DO NOT REMOVE THE REAR SLING UNTIL AFTER THE INSTALLATION OF THE LOCK PIN INTO THE HANDLE OF THE TURNOVER STAND. THIS CAN PREVENT THE ROTATION OF THE MODULE AND INJURY TO PERSONS.

      Remove the 20 bolts and the four ring supports which attach the lift sling of the rear sling to the fan frame rear flange of the module.

    3. Lift and remove the rear sling from the fan frame rear flange. Move the rear sling to the work bench.

    4. Remove the hoist from the rear sling.
