Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-00-350-057 Remove the Damaged Floating Nuts of the Bracket Assembly

      1. Remove the floating nuts.

      1. Use drilling machine.

      2. Center punch rivet head to spot drilling location.

      3. Drill through the head of the rivets.

      4. Use drill 0.089 in. (2.26 mm) (No. 43).

      5. Drive out the rivet bodies using a small hammer and punch.

      2. Remove the sharp edge around the rivet hole.

      1. Use a fine file.

    3. Clean the hole with a soft clean cloth and blast with air.

    2. SUBTASK 72-32-00-220-100 Examine the Rivet Hole of the Bracket Assembly

      1. Visually inspect the rivet hole.

      1. No cracks and burrs are permitted.

    3. SUBTASK 72-32-00-350-058 Install New Floating Nut to the Bracket Assembly

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Install new floating nut to the bracket.

      1. Put the new floating nut in position on the flange of the bracket, aligning the rivet holes.

      3. Install the rivets through the bracket and floating nut and using continuous squeezing action, make rivets.

      1. Use rivet squeezer.

    4. SUBTASK 72-32-00-220-101 Examine the Floating Nut of the Bracket Assembly

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Visually and dimensionally inspect the formed rivet head.

      1. The rivet must be tight.

      2. Both rivet heads should be correctly seated.

      3. The formed rivet heads should have no cracks or sign of bursting at the periphery.

      4. The formed rivet heads shall not be offset from the stem.
