Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-03-322-051 Remove the Damaged Stud

      1. Set the fan frame assembly on machine.

      1. Use radial drilling machine.

      2. Install the removal tool in the chuck and lower over the shank before starting motor.

      1. Use removal tool BT308.

        Set spindle speed to 300 to 700 RPM.

    3. Start motor, without raising spindle. Mill the lockring.

      4. Apply removal torque to the stud.

      1. Use wrench R1107XW.

    5. Remove the remaining lockring and stud.

    2. SUBTASK 72-32-03-350-063 Assemble the New Stud

      NOTE

      Replacement of studs and lockring is made with same size parts as those removed. Before driving new lockring, rotate the lockring external serrations to a position aligned with those in parent material.

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Install the new stud in the hole.

    3. Make sure the depth from the parent material surface to the grip end of the stud.

      4. Install and drive the new lockring.

      1. The stud serration and the ring serration must engage.

        The flat side of the lockring must face out.

    5. Make sure the depth from the parent material surface to the lockring surface.

    6. Remove the burr caused by driving the lockring.

    3. SUBTASK 72-32-03-220-091 Examine the Fan Frame Assembly

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Visually and dimensionally examine the lockring assembly.
