Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-03-350-052 Remove the Damage of the Strut Fairing Panel Assembly

      CAUTION

      TITANIUM COMPONENT.
      SILICON CARBIDE TYPE WHEELS, STONES AND ABRASIVE PAPERS ARE TO BE USED FOR THIS REPAIR.
      ALUMINUM OXIDE MUST NOT BE USED.
      THE MATERIAL WILL OXIDIZE AND CRACK IF MECHANICAL CUTTERS ARE USED HEAVILY. THIS HAS OCCURRED IF THE COMPONENT SHOWS DARK STRAW TO BLUE DISCOLORATION.

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Scallop, make smooth and/or hand polish to remove the nicks and/or scratches.

      1. Use light pressure to prevent risk of over heating material.

      3. Surface finish of the repair must be the same as the adjacent area.

      4. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501.

    2. SUBTASK 72-32-03-220-069 Examine the Strut Fairing Panel Assembly

      1. Visually examine the repaired area.

      1. Visually examine the repaired area for nicks, galls, scores and/or pick-up using 10X magnifying glass.

      2. Refer to TASK 72-32-03-200-001 (INSPECTION-001, CONFIG-001).

    3. SUBTASK 72-32-03-230-053 Examine the Strut Fairing Panel Assembly

      1. Fluorescent penetrant examine the repaired area.

      1. Make sure there are no cracks in the repaired area.

      2. Refer to TASK 72-32-03-200-001 (INSPECTION-001, CONFIG-001).

      3. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

      5. Use penetrant crack test equipment.
