Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-05-350-052 Remove the Damage from the Center Bearing Housing Assembly

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      2. CAUTION

        SILICON CARBIDE TYPE WHEELS, STONES AND ABRASIVE PAPERS ARE TO BE USED FOR THIS REPAIR. ALUMINUM OXIDE MUST NOT BE USED. THE MATERIAL WILL OXIDIZE AND CRACK IF MECHANICAL CUTTERS ARE USED HEAVILY. THIS HAS OCCURRED IF THE COMPONENT SHOWS DARK STRAW TO BLUE DISCOLORATION.

        Scallop, make smooth and/or hand polish to remove the nicked, scratched and/or galled area.

      1. Use light pressure to prevent any risk of over heating the material.

      3. Surface finish of the repair must be the same as the adjacent area.

      4. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501.

    2. SUBTASK 72-32-05-220-066 Visually Examine the Center Bearing Housing Assembly

      1. Visually examine the repaired area.

      1. Visually examine the repaired area for nicks, scratches and/or galling using a 10X magnifying glass.

    3. SUBTASK 72-32-05-230-054 Examine the Center Bearing Housing Assembly

      1. Fluorescent penetrant examine the repaired area.

      1. Make sure there are no cracks in the repaired area.

      2. Refer to TASK 72-32-05-200-003 (INSPECTION-003, CONFIG-001).

      3. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.
