Refer to the SPM TASK 70-33-78-300-503.
Use CoMat 02-047 TAPE, HEAT REFLECTIVE to mask the areas around the hardface.
The coating pocket must go from the inside diameter to the outside diameter of the seal face.
Remove the hardface or by chemical stripping.

NOTE
This procedure is an alternative to removing the hardface by machine given in Step.Refer to: Figure
Refer to Figureand SPM TASK 70-34-02-340-501.
The coating thickness must be 0.004 to 0.006 in. (0.102 to 0.152 mm).
The hardness of the coating must be 35 to 40 HRC or equivalent.
Apply hardface to the seal seat.
