Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-41-350-013 Remove the Damaged Clinch Nut

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Drill and remove the flare of the clinch nut until the flare twists.

      1. Use a 0.377 in. (9.58 mm) diameter drill.

      3. Remove the clinch nut.

      1. Use a mallet and a punch.

      4. Remove the sharp edges around the nut location hole.

      5. Clean the nut location hole.

      1. Use a soft clean cloth and air blast.

      6. Visually examine the nut location hole.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-21-01-220-501.

      2. Visually examine the nut location hole for galls, burrs and/or scores using a 2X magnifying glass.

    2. SUBTASK 72-32-41-350-014 Install the New Clinch Nut

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Install the new clinch nut into the location hole.

      NOTE

      Make sure that the clinch nut is installed correctly.

      3. Hold the clinch nut in position and make a flare.

      1. NOTE

        Make sure that the clinch nut is installed satisfactorily.

      4. Visually examine the flare of the clinch nut for cracks. If cracked replace.

      1. Refer to TASK 72-32-41-200-000 (INSPECTION-000).

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-21-01-220-501.
