Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-53-350-057 Remove the Damaged Seal Spring Guides from the Face Seal

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. CAUTION

        DO NOT MAKE THE FLANGE HOLE LARGER WHEN YOU MACHINE OR DRILL THE GUIDE SHANK. DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SEAL HOUSING WHEN YOU USE A DRIFT TO REMOVE THE GUIDE FROM THE FLANGE.

        Remove the damaged guides.

        1. Machine or drill the flare of the guide.

        2. Use a drift to punch out the remaining pieces of the guide.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-53-220-087 Examine the Seal Spring Guide Hole

    2. Examine the guide hole for damage.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-53-350-058 Install New Seal Spring Guides

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Install new guides into the face seal.

        1. Spin or squeeze to flare the end of the pins.

        2. Do not use a hammer or machine to flare the end.

      1. Examine the face seal after repair.
