General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

Lubricate all threads and abutment faces of nuts and bolts with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS, unless other lubricants are referred to in the procedure.

Discard all retaining rings and key washers removed in this procedure.

This TASK gives the procedure to disassemble the booster stage bleed valve and actuating mechanism.

Special tools are identified in the procedure by the tool primary number.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-70-040-051-A00 Remove the Synchronized Ring from the Link Arms and Power Arms (Pre SBE 72-0133)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Put the valve and actuating mechanism on a work bench with the rear flange down.

    3. Remove the 25 retaining rings and pins, which safety the link arms to the synchronized ring, with IAE 1J12208 Puller 1 off. Discard the retaining rings.

    4. Remove the two retaining rings and pins, which safety the power arms to the synchronized ring, with the puller. Discard the retaining rings. Remove the synchronized ring.

    5. Remove the four bushes from the synchronized ring.

    2. SUBTASK 72-32-70-040-051-B00 Remove the Synchronised Ring from the LinkArms and the Power Arms (SBE 72-0133 and SBE 72-0306)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Put the valve and actuating mechanism on a work bench with the rear flange down.

    3. Remove the 25 retaining rings and pins, and the 50 bushes which safety the link arms to the synchronised ring, with the puller. Discard the retaining rings.

    4. Remove the two retaining rings and pins, which safety the power arms to the synchronised ring, with the puller. Discard the retaining rings. Remove the synchronised ring.

    5. Remove the 54 bushes from the synchronised ring.

    3. SUBTASK 72-32-70-040-052-A00 Remove the Bleed Valves from the Support Ring (Pre SBE 72-0133)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the 27 retaining rings and pins, which safety the bleed valves to the links, with the puller. Discard the retaining rings.

    3. Remove the 54 retaining rings and pins, which safety the bleed valves to the supports of the support ring, with the puller. Discard the retaining rings. Remove the bleed valves.

    4. SUBTASK 72-32-70-040-052-B00 Remove the Bleed Valve from the Support Ring (SBE 72-0133)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the 27 cotter pins which safety the bleed valves to the links. Discard the cutter pins.

    3. Remove the 27 nuts, washers and pins which safety the bleed valves to the links.

    4. Remove the 54 retaining rings and pins, which safety the bleed valves to the mid supports and the supports of the support ring, with the puller. Discard the retaining rings. Remove the bleed valves.

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the 27 retaining rings and pins, which safety the links to the power arms and the link arms, with the puller. Discard the retaining rings. Remove the links.

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the 27 retaining rings and pins, which safety the links to the power arms and the link arms, with the puller. Discard the retaining rings. Remove the links.

    7. SUBTASK 72-32-70-040-054-A00 Remove the Power Arms and the Link Arms (Pre SBE 72-0133)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the two nuts and washers which safety the power arms to the power stud pins on the support ring. Remove the power arms.

    3. Remove the 25 retaining rings, which safety the link arms to the stud pins on the support ring, with the puller. Discard the retaining rings. Remove the link arms.

    8. SUBTASK 72-32-70-040-054-B00 Remove the Power Arms and the Link Arms (SBE 72-0133)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the two nuts and washers which safety the power arms to the power stud pins on the support ring. Remove the power arms.

    3. Remove the 25 retaining rings, which safety the link arms to the stud pins on the support ring, with the puller. Discard the retaining rings. Remove the link arms.

    9. SUBTASK 72-32-70-040-055 Remove the Power Stud Pins and the Stud Pins from the Support Ring

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Bend back the keys on the 27 key washers which safety the nuts to the power stud pins and the stud pins.

    3. Remove the nuts and the key washers. Discard the key washers.

    4. Remove the power stud pins and the stud pins from the support ring.
