Safety Requirements

Use the Hydraulic press and IAE 3J12749 remove and install pusher 1 off.
Push out the defective spherical bearing.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501.
Examine for damage in the bore.
Scratches are permitted but remove the burrs.
SUBTASK 72-32-75-350-054 Remove the Defective Spherical Bearing from the Rod Assembly
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.
Fluorescent penetrant examine the spherical bearing hole.
SUBTASK 72-32-75-230-055 Examine the Rod Assembly for Cracks
Use clean dry air blast or CoMat 02-099 LINT-FREE CLOTH.
Clean the new spherical bearing and the hole of the rod.
Use the Hydraulic press and the IAE 3J12749 remove and install pusher 1 off.
Position the bearing race slightly below the surface of the rod.
Install the bearing.
Use the hydraulic press and the IAE 3J12749 remove and install pusher 1 off.
Apply a swaging force of 8000 lbf.
Turn the rod and re-apply the swaging force.
Swage the rod to fix the bearing.
Use the hydraulic press and the IAE 3J12749 remove and install pusher 1 off.
Apply an axial load of 300 lbf to the inner race.
Turn the rod and re-apply the load.
If it moves, re-swage or replace the bearing with a higher swaging load.
Do a proof-test.
