The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK numbers are in the SPM.

Dressing of stator vanes will affect engine performance. The extent of repair in a given stage must be limited accordingly.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-76-350-061 Dress to Remove Damage

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Dress to remove damage.

        1. Use portable grinding equipment.

        2. Dress until all damage is removed.

        3. Do not overhaul material.

        4. The blend ratio should be 15:1 to 50:1 where ever possible.

      1. Blend the dressed area and polish out scores.

        1. Polish and blend mark must be in a radial direction.

        2. Surface finish must be the same as that of the adjacent undressed area.

        3. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-76-110-058 Clean the Dressed Area

      1. Clean the dressed area.

      2. Refer to TASK 72-32-76-100-000 (CLEANING-000).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-76-230-056 Examine the Dressed Area for Cracks

      1. Do a penetrant crack test for the dressed area.

        1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        2. Penetrant solution must not be applied on to the silicone rubber.

        3. Make sure there are no cracks in the repaired area.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-76-380-055 Reprotect the Dressed Area

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-76-220-096 Examine the Repair Area

      1. Do a visual inspection on the repaired area.

      2. Refer to TASK 72-32-76-200-000. (INSPECTION-000).
