Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-81-350-056 Dress to Remove Damage

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. CAUTION

        TITANIUM COMPONENTS.
        SILICON CARBIDE TYPE WHEELS, STONES AND ABRASIVE PAPERS ARE TO BE USED FOR THIS REPAIR.
        ALUMINIUM OXIDE TYPES MUST NOT BE USED.
        THE MATERIAL WILL OXIDIZE AND CRACK IF MECHANICAL CUTTERS ARE USED HEAVILY. THIS HAS OCCURRED IF THE COMPONENT SHOWS DARK STRAW TO BLUE DISCOLORATION. IF AT ANY TIME THIS COLORATION OCCURS THE COMPONENT MUST BE REJECTED.

        Dress to remove damage in the disc surface and the spigot diameter except knife edge seals, dovetail slots, oil drain holes and bolt holes.

        1. Use portable grinding equipment.

        2. Dress until all damage is removed.

      1. Blend the dressed area and polish out scores.

        1. The maximum blend limits is 0.004 in. (0.10 mm) in depth.

        2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-81-110-056 Do a Swab Etch

      1. Chemically clean.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-08-300-503, SUBTASK 70-11-08-300-001.

      3. Use chemical cleaning equipment.

      1. Swab etch the repair area(s).

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-08-300-503, SUBTASK 70-11-08-300-002.

      3. Use chemical cleaning equipment.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-81-230-056 Examine the Disc for Cracks

      1. Pentrant crack test the dressed area.

        1. Make sure there are no cracks in the repaired area.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-81-220-068 Examine the Disc

      1. Do a visual inspection.

        1. Visually examine the repaired area for nicks, scratches and/or other damage.

        2. Use 10X magnifying glass.

        3. Refer to the SPM TASK 72-32-81-200-001-B00.

      1. Vibro-engrave VRS1861 on the top surface of the dovetail slot.
