Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-83-350-072 Remove the Damage from the LPC Stage 1.5 Stator Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. CAUTION

WHEELS, STONES AND ABRASIVE PAPERS USED TO DRESS, MAKE SMOOTH OR POLISH A TITANIUM COMPONENT MUST BE OF THE SILICON CARBIDE TYPE. ALUMINIUM OXIDE TYPES MUST NOT BE USED.

        CAUTION

IF MECHANICAL CUTTERS ARE USED, ONLY SMALL CUTS MUST BE MADE TO PREVENT TOO MUCH HEAT.

Scallop, make smooth and/or hand polish to remove nicks, scratches and damage.

      2. Use abrasive stones or papers and/or fine file.

      3. Use light pressure to prevent risk of overheating material.

      4. All polish marks must be in a radial direction from the vane ID to OD.

      5. The surface finish of the repair area must be the same as the adjacent area.

      1. Hand polish the vane leading and/or trailing edge radius and the vane profile to make a smooth shape.

      2. Remove the minimum quantity of material necessary to give the correct radius.

      3. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-83-220-160 Examine the LPC Stage 1.5 Stator Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Do a visual and dimensional examination of the vane.

      2. Visually examine the repaired area for nicks, scratches and damage.

      3. Use a 10X magnifying glass.

      4. Refer to TASK 72-32-83-200-000 (INSPECTION-000).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-83-230-074 Examine the LPC Stage 1.5 Stator Assembly for Cracks

      1. Fluorescent penetrant examine the repaired area.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

      3. Make sure that there are no cracks in the repaired area.
