Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-85-350-078 Remove Anchor Nut

    2. Remove the anchor nut.

      3. Make a hole in the center of the rivet head.

      1. Use a center punch.

      4. Drill-off tapered portion of pin.

      1. Use electric hand drill and a drill of 0.070 in. (1.78 mm) diameter.

      5. Pry out remainder of locking collar.

      1. Use small hammer and punch.

      6. Drill almost through the rivet head.

      1. Use electric hand drill and a drill of 0.089 in. (2.26 mm) diameter.

    7. Pry off rivet head.

      8. Tap shank out with pin.

      1. Use small hammer and punch.

    10. Clean the hole with soft clean cloth and blast with air.

    2. SUBTASK 72-32-85-220-093 Examine the Rivet Hole on the Fan Case Assembly

      2. Visually examine the rivet hole.

      1. Cracks, nicks, scratches and burrs are not permitted.

    3. Dimensionally examine the rivet hole.

    3. SUBTASK 72-32-85-350-079 Fit New Anchor Nut to the Fan Case Assembly

      2. Install new anchor nut on the fan case.

      1. Put new anchor nut in position on the fan case, aligning rivet holes.

    3. Install rivet through the fan case and the anchor nut.

      4. Form the rivet.

      1. Use cherry riveter, adapter and pulling head.

    4. SUBTASK 72-32-85-220-094 Examine the Anchor Nut on the Fan Case Assembly

      2. Visually examine the formed rivet.

      1. The rivet must be tight.

      2. Both rivet heads must be correctly seated.

      3. The formed rivet head must have no cracks or signs of bursting at the periphery.
