Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-40-00-350-051 Remove the Damaged Plate Nut

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Drill and remove the manufactured head of the rivet.

      1. Use a punch and 0.125 in. (3.18 mm) diameter drill.

      3. Remove the rivets.

      1. Use a punch and a mallet.

    4. Remove the plate nut.

      5. Clean the rivet holes of the bracket.

      1. Use a soft clean cloth and air blast.

      6. Visually examine the rivet holes.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-21-01-220-501.

    2. SUBTASK 72-40-00-350-052 Install the New Plate Nut

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. NOTE

        Make sure that the plate nut is retained correctly.

        Fit and retain the new plate nut to the bracket.

      1. Use sheet fastener.

      3. Install and upset one rivet.

      1. Use rivet squeezer.

        Driven head must be 0.1260 to 0.1417 in. (3.20 to 3.60 mm) in diameter and 0.0473 to 0.0629 in. (1.2 to 1.6 mm) in height.

    4. Remove the sheet fastener.

      5. Install and upset the rivet to the remaining rivet hole.

      1. NOTE

        Make sure that the plate nut is installed satisfactorily.

        Use the rivet squeezer.

        Driven head must be 0.1260 to 0.1417 in. (3.20 to 3.60 mm) in diameter and 0.0473 to 0.0629 in. (1.2 to 1.6 mm) in height.

      6. Visually examine the rivets of the plate nut for cracks and other damage.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-21-01-220-501.
