General

This TASK gives the procedure to clean the HP Compressor Stage 3 To 8 Disks.

The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by SPM TASK numbers are in the SPM.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the EIPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-11-110-051 Remove the Grease

      1. CAUTION

        THIS PROCEDURE MUST BE FOLLOWED BY THE DEMINERALISED WATER WASH, Step.

        Remove the grease. Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.

      1. Mild clean. You must drain the internal pockets. Use a syphon tube.

    2. SUBTASK 72-41-11-110-052 Clean the Disks

      1. CAUTION

        THIS PROCEDURE MUST BE FOLLOWED BY THE DEMINERALISED WATER WASH.

        Clean the disks. Refer to TASK 70-11-03-300-503.

      1. Aqueous degrease. You must drain the internal pockets. Use a syphon tube.

    3. SUBTASK 72-41-11-110-053 Wash the Disks

      1. CAUTION

        TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION AFTER THE WASH, USE CLEAN POLYTHENE OR COTTON GLOVES, WHEN YOU HANDLE THE DISKS.

        Measure the conductivity of the demineralised water.

      1. Make a record of the value. If the conductivity is more than 20 microsiemens/cm (20 micromho/cm), replace the demineralised water. Do this again until the conductivity is less than 20 microsiemens/cm (20 micromho/cm).

      2. Put the HP compressor stage 3 to 8 disks fully into the demineralised water for 5 minutes.

      1. Turn the HP compressor stage 3 to 8 disks to prevent air locks. Make sure all the surfaces are washed.

    3. Remove the HP compressor stage 3 to 8 disks from the tank.

      4. Measure the conductivity of the demineralised water between the disks and the internal pockets.

      1. Compare the value with the value in Step.

      5. Drain the demineralised water from the internal pockets.

      1. Use a syphon tube.

    6. Do Step to Step again until the conductivity readings at Step and Step are the same.

      7. Dry the HP compressor stage 3 to 8 disks, in an oven.

      1. Dry for 2 hours at 374 deg F to 410 deg F. (190 deg C to 210 deg C).
