This repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in 72-41-21 Inspection/Check, (72-41-21 INSPECTION/CHECK-00)
This repair can be done locally or the full 360 degrees all round the component, to the limits in Figure
Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.
The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK/SUBTASK numbers are in the SPM.

Refer to Figure.
Use CoMat 05-106 ABRASIVE STONE and CoMat 05-021 WATERPROOF SILICON CARBIDE with portable grinding equipment, as necessary.
Make sure the damage/wear is completely removed and the area is made smooth into the adjacent material.
Remove only the minimum amount of material.
The maximum depth to remove the damage/wear must not be more than 0.015in. (0.381 mm).

CAUTION
TITANIUM COMPONENT - YOU MUST USE SILICON CARBIDE TYPE ABRASIVE WHEELS, STONES AND PAPERS TO DRESS, BLEND AND POLISH THIS COMPONENT.
CAUTION
TITANIUM COMPONENT - DO NOT USE FORCE WITH MECHANICAL CUTTERS OR THE MATERIAL WILL BECOME TOO HOT.
CAUTION
TITANIUM COMPONENT - MAXIMUM SPEED FOR MECHANICAL TOOLS MUST NOT EXCEED 1000 REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE.
CAUTION
TITANIUM COMPONENT - YOU MUST MAKE SURE THAT WHEN YOU REMOVE MATERIAL, BLEND AND POLISH, NO SPARKS ARE PRODUCED.
CAUTION
TITANIUM COMPONENT - IF THE MATERIAL SHOWS A CHANGE IN COLOR, TO DARKER THAN A LIGHT STRAW COLOR, THE COMPONENT IS TO BE REJECTED.Remove the damage/wear from the heatshield location on the HP Compressor Front Support Cone.
Refer to Figure.
Make sure the damage marks are completely removed and the area is made smooth into the adjacent material.
The maximum depth to remove the damage/wear must not be more than 0.005in. (0.13 mm).
The diameter of the repaired area is to be 50 times the depth.
NOTE
This Repair can be done locally or the full 360 degrees all round the component, to the limits in Figure.Remove damage from the other area(s).
SUBTASK 72-41-21-350-051 Remove the Damage
Refer to Figure.
Make sure the surface finish is the same as the adjacent material.
The maximum depth of the repair must not be more than 0.015in. (0.381 mm).
The minimum length of material removal after repair is 1.000in. (25.40 mm) and can be a maximum of 360 degrees around the component.
Visually examine and measure the dimensions of the heatshield location.
Refer to Figure.
Make sure the surface finish is the same as the adjacent material.
The maximum depth of the repair must not be more than 0.005in. (0.13 mm).
The diameter of the repair must not be more than 0.250in. (6.25 mm).
Visually examine and measure the dimensions of the other repaired area(s).
