This repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in 72-41-21 Inspection.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the EIPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the EIPC.

The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK/SUBTASK number are in the SPM.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-230-076-001 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a penetrant crack test.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501.

      2. No cracks are permitted.

    2. SUBTASK 72-41-21-230-076-002 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a penetrant crack test.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-03-230-501.

      2. No cracks are permitted.

    3. SUBTASK 72-41-21-350-054 Remove the Damage

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Remove the damage.

      2. Make sure the damage marks are completely removed and the area is made smooth in to the adjacent material.

      3. The maximum depth to remove the damage must not be more than 0.005in. (0.13 mm).

      4. The diameter of the repaired area is to be 50 times the depth.

      3. Polish the area of repair.

      2. Polish the repaired area to remove the scratches and to give a surface finish the same as the adjacent material.

    4. SUBTASK 72-41-21-220-192 Examine the Repair

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Do a visual and dimensional inspection.

      1. Make sure the surface finish is the same as the adjacent material.

      2. The maximum depth of the repair must not be more than 0.005 in. (0.13 mm).

    5. SUBTASK 72-41-21-230-077-001 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a penetrant crack test.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501.

      2. No cracks are permitted.

    6. SUBTASK 72-41-21-230-077-002 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a penetrant crack test.
