This repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in 72-42-50 Inspection/Check.

The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK numbers are in the SPM.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-34-230-082-001 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a penetrant crack test.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501. Cracks are not permitted.

    2. SUBTASK 72-41-34-230-082-002 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a penetrant crack test.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-03-230-501. Cracks are not permitted.

    3. SUBTASK 72-41-34-350-057 Remove the Damaged Areas

    1. Refer to: Figure

      2. Remove small areas of damage.

      1. The maximum depth to remove the damage must not be more than 0.005 in. (0.127 mm).

        The diameter of the area removed is to be 50 times the depth.

      3. Blend the area of repair.

      4. Polish the area of repair.

      1. Use CoMat 05-110 EMERY POLISHING PAPER and CoMat 05-111 EMERY POLISHING PAPER. Polish to remove the dressing marks.

    4. SUBTASK 72-41-34-220-187 Examine the Repair

    1. Refer to: Figure

      2. Do a visual and dimensional inspection.

      1. Use workshop inspection equipment. Make sure the maximum depth of the repair is not more than 0.005 in. (0.127 mm).

    5. SUBTASK 72-41-34-230-083-001 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a penetrant crack test.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501. Cracks are not permitted.

    6. SUBTASK 72-41-34-230-083-002 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a penetrant crack test.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501. Cracks are not permitted.
