Material of component

The HP Compressor Stage 3 Actuating Ring Connector Assembly is manufactured from Titanium alloy. The Bush is manufactured from Polymide resin.

General

This Repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in TASK 72-41-34 (INSPECTION/CHECK).

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-34-110-092 Chemically Clean

      1. Chemically clean.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 72-41-34-100-000.

        Use chemical cleaning equipment.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-34-350-084 Remove the Worn Bushes

      CAUTION

      DO NOT DAMAGE THE HOLE IN THE CONNECTOR.
    2. Refer to: Figure and Figure

      1. Remove the head of the bush.

      2. Use a portable drilling machine with a 0.346 in (8.80 mm) diameter drill and standard workshop equipment.

      1. Remove the bush.

      2. Use a round bar and standard workshop equipment.

        NOTE

        Pushing the bushing from the hole using a round bar, and on its own is sufficient to remove the bushings when needed.
    1. SUBTASK 72-41-34-110-093 Do a Swab Etch

      1. Chemically clean.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-08-300-503, SUBTASK 70-11-08-300-001.

        Use chemical cleaning equipment.

      1. Swab etch the repair area(s).

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-08-300-503, SUBTASK 70-11-08-300-001.

        Use chemical cleaning equipment.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-34-230-149 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a local penetrant crack test on the repaired area.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        If cracks - Reject.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-34-220-215 Examine

    2. Refer to: Figure and Figure

      1. Visually examine and measure the dimensions of the bush location holes.

      2. Use workshop inspection equipment.

        More than 0.3552 in (9.022 mm) - Reject.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-34-350-085 Install the Bushes

      CAUTION

      MAKE SURE THAT THE BUSHES ARE INSTALLED AT THE CORRECT LOCATION.
    2. Refer to: Figure and Figure

      1. Install the new bushes.

      2. Use 6A2512 bush 03-220, 4 off and 6A2512 bush 03-300, 4 off.

        Use standard workshop equipment.

        Push bush into the holes until the retaining feature is engaged.

      1. Visually examine the bushes.

      2. Make sure that the bushes are fully engaged.
