This repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in TASK 72-42-40 Inspection/Check.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-40-350-051 Remove the Damage

    1. Refer to: Figure

      2. Remove the damage.

      1. Use CoMat 05-106 ABRASIVE STONE and CoMat 05-111 EMERY POLISHING PAPER. Make sure the damage marks are completely removed and the area is made smooth in to the adjacent material.

        The maximum depth to remove the damage must not be more than 0.005in. (0.13 mm). The diameter of the repaired area is to be 50 times the depth.

      3. Polish the area of repair.

      1. Polish the repaired area to remove the scratches and to give a surface finish the same as the adjacent material.

    2. SUBTASK 72-42-40-220-057 Examine the Repair

    1. Refer to: Figure

      2. Do a visual and dimensional inspection.

      1. Make sure the surface finish is the same as the adjacent material.

        The maximum depth of the repair must not be more than 0.005in. (0.13 mm). The diameter of the repair must not be more than 0.250in. (6.25 mm).

    3. SUBTASK 72-42-40-230-052-001 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a penetrant crack test.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501.

        No cracks are permitted.

    4. SUBTASK 72-42-40-230-052-002 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a penetrant crack test.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-03-230-501.

        No cracks are permitted.
