General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

Remove and discard the lockwire before parts are disconnected or removed.

Discard all rubber seal rings, cotter pins and seal washers removed in this procedure.

Refer to TASK 72-43-00-990-001 for a sectional view of the No. 4 bearing rear seal assembly.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-43-20-040-051 Disassemble the No. 4 Bearing Rear Seal Assembly

    2. Refer to: Figure

    3. Remove the cover from the No. 4 bearing rear seal assembly.

    4. Put the No. 4 bearing rear seal assembly on a bench so that the seal face is up.

    5. CAUTION

      DO NOT DAMAGE THE FACE OF THE SEAL.

      Make the cotter pins straight on the ends where they were bent.

    6. Remove the cotter pins with a cotter pin extractor.

    7. Remove the collars from the pins.

    8. Remove the No. 4 bearing face seal assembly from the seal ring holder.

    9. Remove the springs from the holes in the seal ring holder.

    10. Remove the seal ring from the groove in the seal ring holder.
