Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-45-23-220-083 Cold Work the Seal Slot Tabs of the Stage 1 HPT Duct Segment

      CAUTION

      THE TAB CAN BE BENT IN EITHER DIRECTION UP TO 0.031 IN. (0.787 MM), BUT THE PART MUST BE COLD WORKED IN ONE DIRECTION ONLY (INBOARD OR OUTBOARD) BEFORE THE STRESS-RELIEF CYCLE.

    2. Cold work the seal slot tab to make the slot width 0.025 - 0.031in. (0.635 - 0.787 mm).

    2. SUBTASK 72-45-23-230-060 Fluorescent Penetrant Inspect the Stage 1 HPT Duct Segment After Cold Work

      1. Do a fluorescent penetrant inspection of the duct segment for cracks.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-02-230-501.

        No cracks are permitted.

    3. SUBTASK 72-45-23-370-001 Stress-Relieve the Stage 1 HPT Duct Segment

      1. Stress-relieve the duct segment.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-37-10-370-501. You can do the stress-relief procedure at the same time as a Coat Diffusion Cycle at 1975 deg F (1079.4 deg C) or Thermal Cycle at 1975 deg F (1079.4 deg C) for four hours.

    4. SUBTASK 72-45-23-230-061 Fluorescent Penetrant Inspect the Stage 1 HPT Duct Segment After Stress-Relief

      1. Do a fluorescent penetrant inspecton of the duct segment for cracks.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-02-230-501.

        No cracks permitted.
