Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-10-210-052 Examine the Shipping Support

    1. Examine the IAE 5M14013 Shipping container 1 off externally.

    2. SUBTASK 72-50-10-540-069 Open the Container

    1. Remove the cover of the container (part of the IAE 5M14013 Shipping container 1 off). Use hoist equipment. Refer to the instructions marked on the container.

    3. SUBTASK 72-50-10-550-053 Check the Desiccant and Humidity Indicator

    1. CAUTION

      MAKE SURE THAT THE DESICCANT BAGS WILL NOT BE DAMAGED OR RUPTURED. IF PARTICLES OF DESICCANT ENTER THE LP TURBINE MODULE, REMOVE THE LP TURBINE MODULE FROM THE SHIPPING FRAME. DISASSEMBLE THE LP TURBINE MODULE AS FAR AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE ALL DESICCANT PARTICLES COMPLETELY (REFER TO TASK 72-50-10-030-000).

      Check the desiccant and humidity indicator.

    4. SUBTASK 72-50-10-540-070 Remove the Desiccant and Humidity Indicator

    1. Remove the desiccant and humidity indicator from the IAE 5M14013 Shipping container 1 off.

    5. SUBTASK 72-50-10-550-054 Check the Engine Documentation

    1. Remove the engine documentation from the record receptacle of the container (part of the IAE 5M14013 Shipping container 1 off).

    2. Check the number of items with the items listed on the documentation.

    6. SUBTASK 72-50-10-540-071 Remove the Locating Disk from the LP Turbine Case and Rotor Assembly

    1. Refer to: Figure

    2. Release the lock nut and turn the swing washer. Remove the centering ring and the two sleeves from the center shaft of the IAE 5M14013 Shipping container 1 off.

    3. Release the six toggle clamps which attach the locating disk to the rear flange of the LP turbine case. Remove the locating disk.

    7. SUBTASK 72-50-10-540-072 Remove the Stage 6 Inner Turbine Air Seal from the Shipping Container

    2. Remove the upper sleeve from the center shaft of the IAE 5M14013 Shipping container 1 off.

    3. Remove the stage 6 inner turbine air seal from the center shaft of the shipping container.

    4. Remove the lower sleeve from the center shaft.

    8. SUBTASK 72-50-10-540-073 Release the LP Turbine Case and Rotor Assembly from the Shipping Container

    1. Refer to: Figure

    2. Remove the ten nuts which attach the stage 6 turbine disk to the locating flange of the shipping container.

    3. Remove the 25 screws which attach the front flange of the LP turbine case to the base of the shipping container.

    9. SUBTASK 72-50-10-540-074 Install the Support Fixture in to the Lifting Fixture

    1. Refer to: Figure

    2. Use hoist equipment.

    3. Engage the IAE 1M14000 Lifting fixture 1 off onto the IAE 1M14001 Support fixture 1 off. Turn back the three guide sleeves, part of the lifting fixture, until the support fixture touches the lifting fixture.

    4. Attach the tool assembly with the three nuts on the guide sleeves.

    5. Turn the hooks of the six clamps to the inner. The hooks must point in the same direction as the rear dowel pins.

    10. SUBTASK 72-50-10-540-075 Install the Assembled Fixture to the LP Turbine Case and Rotor Assembly

    1. Refer to: Figure

    2. Use hoist equipment and lift the assembled fixture with the chain shackles.

    3. Install the IAE 1M14125 Guide pin 1 off to the support fixture.

    4. Install the assembled fixture to the LP turbine case and rotor assembly. Look at the top mark and the dowel pin on the rear flange of the LP turbine case. During installation, make sure that the end of the guide pin engages through a hole of the inner flange of the stage 6 disk.

    5. Attach the lifting fixture to the rear flange of the LP turbine case with 19 screws and washers. Tighten the screws.

    6. CAUTION

      MAKE SURE THAT YOU SAFETY THE LP TURBINE ROTOR CORRECTLY IN AXIAL POSITION. IF NOT THE ROTOR AND STATOR PARTS WILL DAMAGE.

      Loosen the three nuts. Turn down the three guide sleeves until the support fixture touches the rear face of the stage 6 disk connecting flange.

    7. Turn the six clamps out and attach them with the knurled nuts. Make sure that all the hooks of the clamps engage the front face of the stage 6 disk connecting flange.

    8. CAUTION

      MAKE SURE THAT THE SUPPORT FIXTURE IS CORRECTLY INSTALLED ON THE LP SHAFT AND LOCKED ON THE LIFTING FIXTURE. IF THE FIXTURE IS NOT CORRECTLY LOCKED THE LP TURBINE CASE AND ROTOR PARTS CAN BE DAMAGED DURING HANDLING OF THE LP TURBINE CASE AND ROTOR.

      Tighten the three nuts of the IAE 1M14001 Support fixture 1 off.

    11. SUBTASK 72-50-10-540-076 Remove the LP Turbine Case and Rotor Assembly from the Shipping Container

      CAUTION

      SAFETY THE STORAGE STAND WITH THE FLOOR LOCK.

    1. Use hoist equipment to lift the LP turbine case and rotor assembly from the IAE 5M14013 Shipping container 1 off.

    2. Install the LP turbine case and rotor assembly to the IAE 1M14009 Storage stand 1 off.

    3. Attach the LP turbine case and rotor assembly to the storage stand with the four clamp straps and the wing nuts.

    12. SUBTASK 72-50-10-540-077 Remove the Assembled Fixture from the LP Turbine Case and Rotor Assembly

    1. Refer to: Figure

    2. Loosen the six knurled nuts and turn the six clamps to release six hooks from the stage 6 turbine disk.

    3. Remove the 19 screws which attach the IAE 1M14000 Lifting fixture 1 off to the rear flange of the LP turbine case.

    4. Remove the lifting fixture.

    13. SUBTASK 72-50-10-540-078 Disassemble the Lifting Fixture and the Support Fixture

    1. Remove the IAE 1M14125 Guide pin 1 off from the support fixture.

    2. Remove the three nuts on the guide sleeves.

    3. Use hoist equipment. Disengage the lifting fixture from the support fixture.

    14. SUBTASK 72-50-10-540-079 Prepare the Shipping Container for Storage

    1. Refer to: Figure

    2. Install the 25 screws to the base of the IAE 5M14013 Shipping container 1 off.

    3. Install the locating disk to the locating fixture flange of the center shaft. Attach the locating disk with the 15 nuts.

    4. Install the two sleeves and the centering ring to the center shaft of the shipping container. Turn the swing washer and tighten the lock nut.

    5. Install the cover of the container (part of the shipping container).
