Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-21-350-001 General Instructions for the Blend Repair of the Heatshields

      1. Blend the nicks, dents and burrs.

      2. Use files, needle files and stones to blend the nicks, dents and burrs of the heatshields.

      1. Polish the blended areas.

      2. Use fine stones to polish the blend repaired areas.

        After the blend repair the surface must be as smooth as the initial surface.

        Edges and corners are not permitted.

    2. NOTE

      Keep the material removal to the minimum necessary to remove damage.
    1. SUBTASK 72-50-21-350-002 Blend Repair the Heatshields

      1. Blend the heatshields.

      2. Remove only material which has been raised above the original surface by nicks and burrs.

        Do not reduce the original thickness of the part by the blend repair.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-21-220-001 Do the Post Repair Inspection of the Heatshields

      1. Visually examine the blend repaired areas.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-21-01-220-501.
