Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-23-350-057 General Instructions for the Blend Repair of the Stage 4 Shroud Seal Segment (01-250)

      NOTE

      1. Keep material removal to the minimum to remove damage.

      2. Cracks may not be blended with this repair.

      1. Blend the nicks, dents and burrs.

      1. Use files, stones and action swivel vise to blend the shroud seal segments.

      2. Polish the blended areas.

      1. Use fine stones to make the blended surface as smooth as the initial surface.

        Edges and corners are not permitted.

    2. SUBTASK 72-50-23-350-058 Blend Repair the Stage 4 Shroud Seal Segments (01-250)

      2. Blend in area A1.

      1. For local blend repair use a length to depth ratio of 5:1 minimum, refer to Figure.

        The number of blends is not restricted, if there is a number of damage marks together, blend the whole area to the depth of 0.010in. (0.25 mm).

        Minimum distance between blends 0.500in. (12.7 mm).

        The surface texture of blended surfaces must be equal or better than, that of the surrounding area.

      3. Blend in area A2.

      1. Dress to remove raised material only.

    3. SUBTASK 72-50-23-230-059 Examine the Stage 4 Shroud Seal Segment (01-250) after Blend Repair for Cracks

      1. Do the test for cracks.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        No cracks are permitted.

    4. SUBTASK 72-50-23-220-074 Examine the Stage 4 Shroud Seal Segment (01-250) after Blend Repair

      1. Examine the blended areas dimensionally.

      1. Refer to Figure.

        Measure the dimensions of the blended areas.

        The blend ratio must be in the limits given in Step.

        Use dial caliper, gage set and illuminated comparator magnifier.
