Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-25-350-001 General Instructions for the Blend Repair of the Outer Diffuser Assembly Segment

      1. Blend nicks, dents and pits of outer diffuser assembly segment.

      1. Use files and stones to remove nicks, dents and pits.

      2. Polish blended areas.

      1. Use fine stones to make blended surface as smooth as initial surface.

        Edges and corners are not permitted.

    2. SUBTASK 72-50-25-350-002 Blend Repair the Outer Diffuser Assembly Segment

      NOTE

      1. Keep the removal of material to the minimum necessary to remove the damage.

      2. For the local blending use a length to depth ratio of 5:1 minimum. Refer to Figure.

      3. Unless specified differently, there is no limit for the number of blends. If there is a number of damage marks together, blend the whole area to the specified depth. The minimum distance between the blends is 0.500 in. (12.7 mm).

      1. Blend repair in area A1.

      1. Maximum permitted depth of blend repair is 0.008 in. (0.20 mm).

      2. Blend repair in area A2.

      1. Remove lifted material only.

      3. Blend repair holes and locating pins.

      1. Remove lifted material only.

    3. SUBTASK 72-50-25-230-001 Examine the Outer Diffuser Assembly Segment for Cracks

      1. Do test for cracks.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        Use medium sensitivity level.

        No cracks are permitted.

    4. SUBTASK 72-50-25-220-001 Do the Post Repair Inspection

      1. Examine the surface finish.

      1. Surface finish of all repairs must be as good as the adjacent areas.

      2. Examine blend repaired areas dimensionally.

      1. Refer to Figure.

        Use dial caliper and external dial caliper to measure the dimensions of the blended areas.

        Blend ratio must be in limits given in Step.

        Use radius gage set to measure radii of blended areas.
