Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-25-350-065 General Instructions for the Blend Repair of the Outer Diffuser Assembly Support

      1. Blend the nicks, dents and pits of the outer diffuser assembly support.

      1. Use files and stones to remove the nicks, dents and pits.

      2. Polish the blended areas.

      1. Use fine stones to make the blended surface as smooth as the initial surface.

        Edges and corners are not permitted.

      NOTE

      1. Keep the material removal to the minimum necessary to remove the damage.

      2. For local blending use a length to depth ratio of 5 : 1 minimum, refer to Fig. 72-50-25-990-001.

      3. Unless stated differently, there is no limit for the number of blends. If there is a number of damage marks together, blend the whole area to the specified depth. The minimum distance between the blends is 0.500in. (12.7 mm).

      1. Blend repair in area A1.

      1. The maximum permitted depth of blend repair is 0.006in. (0.15 mm).

      2. Blend repair in area A2.

      1. No blend repair is necessary.

        Remove raised material only.

      3. Blend repair the holes, the slots and the locating key.

    3. SUBTASK 72-50-25-230-069 Examine the Outer Diffuser Assembly Support for Cracks

      1. Do the test for cracks.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        No cracks are permitted.

    4. SUBTASK 72-50-25-220-113 Do the Post Repair Inspection of the Outer Diffuser Assembly Support

      1. Examine surface finish.

      1. Use the illuminated comparator magnifier.

        The surface finish of all repairs must be as good as the adjacent areas.

      2. Examine the blend repaired areas dimensionally.

      1. Measure the dimension of the blended areas with dial caliper and external dial caliper.

        The limits are given in Step.

        Use the radius gage set to examine the radius at each blend repaired area.

        Refer to Figure.
